Tjay Carter, age 39, allegedly stabbed another man around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, Hayden said. The victim was found bleeding not too far away on Tremont Street and is expected to survive.
Carter then apparently fled the scene on a bicycle and was later found and arrested near Boylston Street. Officers also found a silver folding knife in Carter's possession, Hayden added.
During his interview with police, Carter "kicked, spat on and made threats to kill multiple officers," Hayden said.
He has since been charged with of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with the intent to murder, threats, and three counts of assault and battery on a police officer, Hayden said.
Carter will be back in court for a dangerousness hearing on July 12.
